How Therapy Works

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy

Therapy begins with understanding what brings you in, how your concerns affect your daily life, and what you hope will change. Sessions are individualized and collaborative, with treatment tailored to your needs, goals, and comfort level.

Virtual therapy offers flexibility, allowing you to attend from a private and comfortable location. Sessions are provided through a secure telehealth platform and typically last 50–55 minutes. You will need a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone. Clients must be physically located in Maryland, Pennsylvania, or North Carolina at the time of each session.

I currently participate with certain CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield plans. Coverage and client responsibility vary by plan. Prospective clients are encouraged to verify their behavioral-health benefits before beginning therapy. For plans with which I am out of network, I can provide a superbill upon request for possible reimbursement.

Under federal law, clients who are not using insurance may be entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for mental health services. This estimate is based on the information available at the time and is not a guarantee of the exact duration or total cost of treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have a question? Request a free consultation or send a brief email. Please do not include detailed clinical or emergency information.

In our first session, you can expect a warm and welcoming space where we’ll get to know each other a bit better. I provide virtual, one-on-one therapy sessions using a secure telehealth platform. We’ll talk about what brought you here, any challenges you’re facing, and what you’d like to work on. My goal is to listen and understand your unique situation so we can create a plan together that feels right for you. It’s all about building trust and setting the stage for a partnership that helps you feel supported as we work toward your goals.  Therapy sessions are personalized to your unique needs, ensuring a collaborative, judgment-free environment.

A typical counseling session lasts for 50-55 minutes, although some sessions may be longer or shorter depending on your needs and preferences.

Corry Bulkley LCPC, is in network with most CareFirst plans. Please contact your insurance company prior to starting counseling to verify your mental health coverage.

For all other insurances, Corry is considered an out of network provider and is unable to submit medical claims on your behalf or assist you with claim resolution. All services are strictly on a self-pay basis; however, upon request, you will be provided with a detailed billing summary that you may submit to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement. Please note that there may be services that are not covered due to your individual policy/plan type. Should you have any questions regarding your medical coverage, please call the telephone number on the back of your insurance card. Some helpful questions to ask may be:

  • Do I have out of network mental health insurance benefits?
  • Do I have an out of network deductible?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is pre-authorization required for any or certain counseling sessions and specific CPT codes?
  • My therapist will give me a "Superbill" receipt each month. What is the reimbursement process for out-of-network claims?

  • Initial Diagnostic Evaluation (90791): $200
  • Individual Therapy Session (90837): $150

Feeling nervous about starting therapy is completely understandable, especially if this is your first time or you are unsure what to expect. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and you will never be pressured to discuss anything before you feel ready. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel safe being yourself.

Yes. I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults. For adolescent clients, a parent or legal guardian is typically involved in the intake process, while therapy sessions provide the adolescent with a private and supportive space to work toward their goals.

No. My practice is fully virtual, and all appointments are provided through a secure telehealth platform.

I am only able to meet with clients who are physically located in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. As long as you are in a private, secure location, you can be located wherever feels most comfortable for you.

Most clients begin with weekly or biweekly sessions, depending on their needs, goals, and availability. We can talk together about what schedule feels most supportive for you. To maintain continuity and make meaningful progress, I ask that clients attend at least one session per month.

I ask that you provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be subject to a late cancellation fee. I understand that unexpected situations can happen, so please reach out as soon as possible if you need to make a change.

You may attend a virtual session while traveling as long as you are physically located in Maryland, Pennsylvania, or North Carolina at the time of the appointment. You will also need to be in a private, secure location where you can participate safely and without interruption. Sessions cannot be held while you are driving.

No. As a licensed clinical professional counselor, I do not prescribe medication. I can collaborate with your physician or psychiatric provider, with your written permission, when coordination of care would be helpful.

Adolescents need a private and trusting space to participate openly in therapy. I encourage parents and caregivers to remain involved in treatment while also respecting the adolescent’s privacy. General updates about treatment goals, attendance, and progress may be shared when appropriate, but specific details are typically kept confidential unless the adolescent provides permission or there is a concern involving safety, abuse, or another situation in which disclosure is legally required. Expectations and limits of confidentiality will be reviewed with both the adolescent and parent or guardian at the beginning of treatment.

Requests for court, disability, employment, or other legal documentation are considered individually and are not guaranteed. Any documentation provided must be supported by the clinical record and remain within my professional role and scope of practice. I do not provide forensic evaluations, custody evaluations, or legal opinions. Additional fees may apply for record review, report preparation, consultation, testimony, or other court-related services.

Telehealth Sessions

TO PREPARE FOR TELEHEALTH SESSIONS

We will be utilizing Telehealth through Sessions Health, a HIPAA-compliant platform integrated with our practice management software for scheduling and electronic health records (EHR).

  1. You will receive a reminder 24 hours prior to your appointment, which will include a link to access your telehealth session.
  2. At the time of your session, please ensure you are in a quiet, private location to maintain confidentiality and verify a secure internet connection.
  3. Simply click the provided link to join the session. You will enter a virtual "waiting room," and your therapist will join you at the scheduled time.

*No additional software is needed to access your telehealth session on a computer or laptop.

Please note: If you are operating a moving vehicle during the appointment, the session will be ended immediately. For safety reasons, therapy cannot be conducted while driving or operating a motor vehicle.
